Saudi Arabia has launched its annual Ramadan programme in the Maldives, implemented each year under the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.
The programme was officially inaugurated by the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to the Maldives, Yahya bin Hassan Al-Qahtani, during a ceremony attended by Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed and senior officials from both countries.
The initiative is carried out under the supervision of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance. It forms part of a global Ramadan assistance programme funded by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, the official title of the King of Saudi Arabia, which supports the distribution of iftar meals and the organisation of religious activities in Muslim communities worldwide.
According to the Saudi Embassy in Malé, this year’s programme will continue the distribution of Ramadan iftar meals across various parts of the Maldives, providing support to communities during the holy month while reinforcing longstanding ties between the two countries.
The embassy stated that the initiative reflects Saudi Arabia’s continued commitment to promoting Islamic solidarity and strengthening cooperation with the Maldives in religious and humanitarian fields.
