Schoolgirl Dies Following Medical Emergency at Huravee School
A young schoolgirl tragically passed away today at the Huravee School, a school situated in Hulhumale’ Phase I.

A police spokesperson confirmed that the deceased was a 13-year-old girl, identified as Fathimath Shima Mohamed by the Education Ministry. According to police reports, they were alerted on Thursday morning about a student being transported to Hulhumale’ Hospital following a medical emergency. However, hospital staff informed the police that Shima had already died upon arrival.
In a statement on X, the Education Ministry expressed its condolences to Shima’s bereaved family. President Dr Mohamed Muizzu also took to the platform, stating he was deeply saddened and concerned by the sudden loss. He offered his sympathies to Shima’s parents, family, friends, classmates, and the broader school community, wishing them patience during this difficult time.
The specific details surrounding the medical emergency that led to Shima’s death remain unclear. The police have announced they are conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her passing.
