In the city of Kulhudhuffushi, at least 57 homes were damaged due to the torrential rains. The local council responded by deploying pumps to remove floodwater from the streets. Five households were evacuated and provided with temporary shelter as a safety precaution.

The NDMA also received reports of flood damage affecting 69 homes across various islands in the region. Alongside Kulhudhuffushi, the islands of Sh. Feevah and Sh. Noomara experienced damage to five homes each, while two homes in HA. Hoarafushi were also affected.

The flooding occurred following an orange alert issued by the Maldives Meteorological Service for the region spanning from HA. Atoll to Sh. Atoll. The alert warned of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, with a heightened risk of flooding due to the active Southwest Monsoon, known locally as the Hulhangu Monsoon.

Weather experts predict that the Hulhangu Monsoon, which is responsible for the ongoing severe weather, will persist until December, continuing to pose challenges for the northern atolls.
