Speaking at a campaign event held on Makunudhoo, President Solih emphasised the island’s unique location, being distant from other inhabited islands and blessed with a stunning lagoon.

He underscored the untapped tourism potential of Makunudhoo and affirmed his commitment to facilitating opportunities for investors interested in establishing resorts in this promising area.

In addition to the resort project, President Solih disclosed that the ongoing land reclamation effort for the airport would extend to include the creation of two or three new islands dedicated to resort development.

Bigfish Maldives Private Limited, the contracted company, has already commenced the reclamation of 43 hectares of land for the airport project in Makunudhoo.

President Solih also outlined an ambitious vision for Makunudhoo’s development, including plans for a racing track and the allocation of space for mariculture.

He further pledged to oversee land reclamation for the construction of residential flats, enhance the local road network, establish a football ground, an ice plant, and upgrade the harbor, all during his second term in office.
