Solih Vows Two-day Weekend for Tourism Workers

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has announced a commitment to grant a two-day weekend for employees working within the tourism sector.
Speaking at a campaign event in Male’ City, the President underscored the crucial role played by tourism workers in bolstering the national economy. He also highlighted the positive impact of the recently implemented minimum wage on their overall well-being.
President Solih further revealed his intention to establish a dedicated tourism advisory committee aimed at ensuring better representation for industry stakeholders.
In response to the expressed desires of tourism workers to reduce their current 48-hour workweek to 40 hours, President Solih made a solemn pledge to reduce working hours and institute a two-day weekend for individuals employed in the tourism sector.
He vowed to initiate discussions with resort proprietors to facilitate mutual agreements between employers and employees in this regard.
