Sri Lankan President Arrives in Maldives for First State Visit

President of Sri Lanka, Anura Kumara Disanayaka, arrived in the Maldives today on a state visit at the invitation of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.
President Muizzu personally received President Disanayaka and his delegation upon their arrival at Velana International Airport. An official welcome ceremony in honour of the visiting President is scheduled to take place later today in Malé.
During the visit, the two leaders are expected to hold official discussions aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation across key sectors. President Disanayaka and President Muizzu will also deliver joint press statements, outlining the outcomes of their talks.

This marks President Disanayaka’s first state visit to the Maldives since taking office in September 2024. The visit also coincides with the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Sri Lanka, formally established on 26 July 1965.
