The State Trading Organisation (STO) has converted its former smart store in Phase I of Hulhumalé into a pharmacy, aiming to improve access to healthcare services for residents in the area.

The newly opened facility, named the ‘STO Pharmacy Centre’, will operate daily from 8:00am to midnight. It will provide a range of products including medicines, medical consumables, diapers, and cosmetics, in line with services offered at other STO pharmacies. Payment options at the new outlet include cash, card, Aasandha, and other health insurance plans.

STO Managing Director Shimad Ibrahim announced the development during the company’s 2024 Annual General Meeting. He noted that the decision to repurpose the smart store followed public concerns about the limited availability of pharmacy services for those visiting Hulhumalé Hospital.

STO has confirmed that its existing pharmacy in the area will remain operational, with both outlets working in tandem to deliver faster and broader services for the local community.
