The swearing in ceremony of President-elect, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, and Vice President-elect, Hussain Mohamed Latheef (Sembe), has been scheduled for November 17.
A joint Interim Committee comprising representatives of the President-elect, the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), and the Parliament convened to discuss the logistical arrangements for the ceremony. Following deliberations, it was agreed that the swearing-in ceremony would be scheduled for 16:45 pm on the 17th of November.
The venue chosen for this occasion is Republic Square. Muizzu had requested that the ceremony be held at this central location, allowing a broader section of the public to witness the event.
According to the Maldivian Constitution, the oath of office for the President and Vice President must be administered by the Chief Justice of the Maldives or a designated judge before they officially assume their roles.
The current President, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, himself took the oath of office on November 17. The ceremony took place at the Galolhu Stadium.
