Thariq Announces Candidacy for FAM Presidency

Mahibadhoo MP Ahmed Thariq has officially submitted his nomination papers for the presidency of the Football Association of Maldives (FAM). 

In a statement posted on X today, Thariq confirmed the submission of his nomination form, marking his third attempt at securing the role of FAM president. The election for the FAM presidency is scheduled for the 31st of next month, and the deadline for nominations is set to expire at 2:00 p.m.

According to the FAM’s constitution, a special committee will oversee the election process. Thariq, having faced defeat in previous elections, is vying for the position against the incumbent president, Bassam, who recently lost his presidency.
