According to the party’s constitution, in the scenario where a sole candidate is running in the presidential primary, members will be required to cast abstention votes. Additionally, the constitution stipulates that if a candidate garners at least 10 percent of the members’ votes, they will be declared the official presidential candidate.

In a council meeting held yesterday, decisions concerning the primary were discussed. Hassan Latheef stated that the council recommended a continued focus on increasing party membership, given the non-competitive nature of the upcoming primary.

Voting for the primary is scheduled to take place from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Friday. Hassan Latheef confirmed that individuals who join the party on the day of the primary will also have the privilege to cast their votes in the election.

Furthermore, the party plans to implement an online voting system and Hassan Latheef emphasized that the e-voting mechanism would prevent any member from casting more than one vote.
