In the run-up to the second round of the presidential election, the government finds itself deliberating over how to handle the applications submitted for the second phase of Binveriyaa and Gedhoruveriya schemes, according to the spokesperson for President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, Mohamed Firuzul.
The second round of the government’s housing allocation scheme concluded yesterday, with over 40,000 applications received. As the government’s term draws to a close on the 17th of next month, the status of these applications remains unconfirmed.
When questioned regarding this matter, Firuzul asserted that the election process would proceed as scheduled, both before and after the election. It was reiterated that individuals who have submitted their documentation or had their land/flat applications gazetted will not be impeded.
Firuzul went on to highlight that the government had already released the initial list for the Binveriya and Gedhoruveriya housing schemes. Notably, the deadline for these applications expired yesterday, with only a partial number of applicants officially recognised.
For the second round of land allocation, the prerequisites included a residency in the Male’ city for over 20 years. Meanwhile, those applying for flats were required to have been Male’ city residents for a minimum of 15 years.
