The Travel Guys has decided to remove Hussain Sunny Umar from the company’s leadership roles, as allegations have come forth recently regarding him sexually abusing children.

In a statement released by the company, Travel Guys announced that their board has finalised a decision to transfer all shares linked to Umar internally, and to remove him from all leadership roles. It further stated that Travelution media, a travel news media run under the company, has been operating under its internal core team, and that Umar has had no leadership role in directing it. It said that recent reports saying his involvement in leading the media is false.

The company rejects all forms of abuse, exploitation, and misconduct, said the statement, and that the safety of individuals remains core to how they operate.

Despite this, the company announced it will continue its daily operations.

Following the circulation of these allegations at Umar, the police said that the matter had come to their attention and that they are investigating it, yet they did not disclose any other information.

According to some reports by local media, Umar allegedly sexually abused three children related to his wife’s family. The reports say that there were two girls, and one boy amongst the victims, and that two of them were under the age of 18.

Reports further claim that Umar fled abroad as soon as the allegations came to light.
