Three Brothers Arrested Over Cigarette and Vape Smuggling in Maldives

Three brothers have been arrested in connection with the smuggling of a substantial quantity of cigarettes and vapes into the Maldives.
Police carried out raids at three locations under a court order, detaining four brothers from Maabaidhoo in Laamu Atoll. Three of the brothers – Nashwan Mohamed, 32, Nahuzan Mohamed, 25, and Nabhan Mohamed, 22, from Shadycorner, Maabaidhoo – were taken into custody following evidence gathered during the operation.

Nashwan and Nahuzan were subsequently released on conditions after being produced in court, while Nabhan was remanded in custody for three days.
Authorities seized a large number of prohibited items during the raids, along with mobile phones and social media accounts allegedly used to trade these products.
Officers also recovered vapes, suspected drugs, MVR 111,880 in cash, and other contraband from a motorcycle and an apartment linked to the suspects.
