Three Foreign Nationals Arrested Over Alcohol Trade in Malé
Three foreign nationals have been arrested in Malé in connection with the large-scale sale of alcoholic beverages.
The arrests were made during an operation carried out by the Counter Narcotics Intelligence and Drug Enforcement Department on Wednesday. Police searched three apartments in the capital during the operation.

Items seized from the apartments included nine bottles of liquor, six five-litre bottles, seventy-eight 500ml bottles, and twenty-two buckets containing suspected liquor. Officers also recovered more than MVR 29,000 and USD 100, believed to be proceeds from the illegal trade.
The individuals taken into custody have been identified as Sabbir Hossain, a 33-year-old Bangladeshi, Mohamed Badal, a 52-year-old Bangladeshi, and Raj Das, a 20-year-old Indian. They were arrested on suspicion of illegally manufacturing, possessing, using, and distributing liquor.
Police confirmed that the three individuals have been handed over to Immigration authorities for deportation proceedings. The investigation into the case remains ongoing.
