Tourism Bed Capacity in the Maldives Rises Amid Continued Growth in Visitor Arrivals
The Ministry of Tourism and Environment has revealed that more than 700 new tourism beds have been added across the Maldives so far this year, bringing the total number of operational beds to over 64,000.
At the end of 2024, the total number of tourism beds stood at 63,248. With an increase of 785 beds recorded this year, the figure has now surpassed 64,000. Resorts remain the most popular choice of accommodation, with over 700,000 tourists opting to stay in them this year. Guesthouses have hosted more than 200,000 visitors, while over 29,000 have stayed in hotels. Safari vessels have also attracted more than 24,000 tourists so far this year.
The year 2024 marked a significant milestone in the Maldives’ tourism history, as the country recorded its highest ever annual arrivals. A total of 2,047,435 tourists visited the Maldives last year, a nine percent increase from the 1,878,543 visitors in 2023.
