The Minister of Tourism and Environment, Thoriq Ibrahim, has emphasised the importance of staying aligned with evolving global trends in order to safeguard the Maldives’ standing as one of the world’s leading tourist destinations.
The Minister made these remarks at the graduation ceremony of a tourism training programme conducted by Patina Maldives at Fari Islands. He stated that the initiative would help create a skilled and knowledgeable workforce in the tourism industry, particularly among the youth, and described it as a significant contribution to the sector’s development.
Underscoring the role of innovation and adaptability, the Minister noted that it is essential for young professionals to remain attuned to ongoing changes in global tourism and technology. He added that continuous learning and a commitment to excellence are vital to ensuring the Maldives retains its popularity among international travellers.
The training programme, which concluded with the graduation of a dozen students, spanned three years and offered specialised instruction in both room service and food and beverage service. It is recognised at the diploma level and accredited by the EHL Hospitality Business School in Switzerland.
