Tourist Arrivals to Maldives Surpass 1.3 Million Mark

The Ministry of Tourism has reported that tourist arrivals to the Maldives have surpassed 1.3 million, marking a 10.4% increase compared to the same period last year.

As of 27 August, the Maldives recorded a total of 1,343,911 tourist arrivals, compared to 1,216,815 visitors by the same date in 2023. On average, the country welcomed 5,600 tourists per day, with an average length of stay recorded at 7.7 days.

China remains the leading source of tourist arrivals, with nearly 200,000 visitors recorded so far. The breakdown of top source markets is as follows:

  • China: 195,689 visitors (14.6%)
  • Russia: 144,950 visitors (10.8%)
  • UK: 116,268 visitors (8.7%)
  • Italy: 100,367 visitors (7.5%)
  • Germany: 94,978 visitors (7.1%)
  • India: 80,365 visitors (6%)
  • USA: 45,920 visitors (3.4%)
  • France: 38,999 visitors (2.9%)
  • Spain: 28,780 visitors (2.1%)
  • Switzerland: 25,622 visitors (1.9%)

The Maldives is on track to set a new tourism record, with expectations of receiving two million visitors by the end of the year.
