As the official campaign period gains momentum, the organisation has urged candidates, political parties, and supporters to demonstrate a sense of responsibility that befits the democratic process.
Transparency Maldives has specifically stressed the necessity of avoiding any actions that might compromise candidates’ electoral rights.
The organisation has directed its plea towards individuals in positions of political influence. It has called upon them to prevent the misuse of state resources and state-owned enterprises to sway the electoral landscape.
Among the concerns raised are the announcement of projects and job openings, as well as the deployment of state assets and influence for campaign purposes.
