HDC announced that these parking structures, set to be completed within two years, will help address the longstanding issue of street parking in the area. Minister Ameen highlighted the government’s efforts to manage on-road parking, noting that the situation had significantly improved since the current administration took office. He added that the new parking buildings would further alleviate the pressure caused by the increasing number of vehicles parked on the streets.
Minister Ameen pointed out that many vehicles, which had been registered under the assumption that they had access to garages, were now being parked on public roads due to limited space at residences. He expressed confidence that the new parking facilities would offer a solution for residents struggling to find parking spaces.
The parking buildings will provide a total of 3,920 car slots and 3,426 motorcycle slots. HDC stated that 90% of the slots would be allocated through a bidding process, while the remaining 10% will be reserved for visitors to the cafés and gyms located on the ground and top floors of the buildings.

With the project’s initiatives, the practice of burning waste in Thilafushi has ceased, and sustainable waste disposal using modern equipment is now in place.
