The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has authorised ten new centres to issue driving licences, a move aimed at addressing the challenges faced by residents in obtaining their licences in the islands.
In a statement, the ministry indicated that it had implemented specialised training programmes to enhance the skills and competencies of staff at these authorised centres. Additionally, ongoing monitoring efforts will be conducted to ensure compliance with regulations during the licence issuance process and to improve the quality of services provided.
In an interview with PSM News, the ministry revealed that a total of 39 centres are now authorised to issue licences, including the ten newly permitted centres. It also noted that further centres could be granted authority upon request, provided they meet the established regulations.
The ministry underscored that these initiatives are designed not only to improve the licence issuance system but also to enhance road safety and build public trust. Officials expressed optimism that the new measures would facilitate a more convenient process for residents while reinforcing the integrity of the system.
