In an announcement from the Transport Ministry, individuals seeking to have their traffic fines waived are required to enroll in a training program before the 25th of the upcoming month.
President Ibrahim Moahmed Solih has granted a reprieve on all parking ticket fines accrued over the past five years. Fines stemming from parking violations between November 17, 2018, and the 5th of this month have been exempted.
However, it’s important to note that fines related to traffic infractions will only be waived for those who engage in a specialised training program. Consequently, while penalties associated with improper parking will be forgiven, traffic violation fines will only be lifted upon successful completion of the training initiative.
According to information available on the Transport Ministry’s SIMS portal, enrollment in the program has been accessible since its recent launch. The program comprises a 20-hour curriculum aimed at enhancing awareness of traffic regulations and other societal concerns.
Applications for participation can be submitted via the SIMS portal, with the opportunity set to remain open until the 25th of the following month.
