Two Arrested with Over One Kilogram of Suspected Drugs and MVR 7,000 in Cash

Two individuals were arrested on Saturday in connection with alleged drug trafficking, with police seizing more than one kilogram of suspected narcotics and over MVR 7,000 in cash.
The arrests were made following a tip-off received by the Counter Narcotics Intelligence unit, which indicated that the suspects were in possession of, selling, trading, and using drugs.

The suspects have been identified as Hassan Nimal, 44, of MA. Dhagandukedige, and Shifana Abdul Sattar, 38, of H. Reefview Hulhangubai 3.
According to the Maldives Police Service, searches were carried out at a residence in Malé’s Machchangolhi ward and at an apartment in Hulhumalé. During the operation, officers recovered suspected drug paraphernalia and MVR 7,335 in cash. The total provisional weight of the suspected drugs seized is 1,058.55 grams.
Police have stated that further investigations are ongoing.
