Two Expatriates Arrested After Street Brawl in Male’ Handed Over for Deportation

Two expatriates arrested following a street brawl in Male’ on Sunday have been handed over to the Maldives Immigration for deportation, according to the police.

Police said the altercation, involving two men, was reported at around 19:11 in Asuruma Goalhi, Male’ City. Both individuals were taken into custody after the incident. One of them sustained injuries and received treatment at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

Authorities confirmed that the two foreigners have now been transferred to Immigration custody for deportation. The case remains under investigation.

A video circulating on social media shows two men attacking each other while several bystanders attempt to break up the fight. One individual appears to strike the other on the head with an object, causing visible bleeding.

Street brawls involving expatriates have been reported in the Maldives on several occasions, with some incidents resulting in serious or even fatal injuries.
