Charges have been filed against Mariyam Dheena Solih, who was Deputy Director of the Procurement Department at the time, and Ismail Shammoon, who was then head of the Information Communication Technology Department.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the pair are accused of misusing their official positions to secure the project for Keiretsu Pvt Ltd. The statement alleges that although Fenaka did not receive the contracted goods, the two officials abused their authority to facilitate the transfer of funds to the company.

The case has been filed as abuse of official authority, for which the basic punishment is one year, seven months and six days in prison.

The statement also referred to earlier proceedings involving Fenaka’s former leadership. Ahmed Saeed Mohamed, the former Managing Director of Fenaka Company, has already been found guilty of abusing his official authority in a separate case and sentenced to four years in prison. He has been charged over other related offences and those trials are still ongoing.
