Two Men Remanded Over Liquor Possession and Trafficking in Malé

Two Maldivian men have been remanded in custody following the arrest of four individuals in Malé for possession, use, and trafficking of liquor.
The Criminal Court ordered a 10-day remand for the two suspects, whose identities were released as Mohamed Naish, 43, from G. Happyside, and Ikram Abdul Rahman, 31, from Handhaan, Laamu Hinnavaru. The other two individuals arrested in connection with the case were released on conditions, police said.
Authorities stated that the arrests occurred during a joint operation conducted on Saturday by the Drug Enforcement and Counter Narcotics Intelligence unit. The suspects were stopped and searched in the Fishermen’s Park area of Malé, where officers recovered 23 bottles of liquor.
