UNICEF Maldives Invites Youth to Join Pre-COP28 Initiatives for Environmental Action

UNICEF Maldives has invited young individuals interested in environmental protection and climate action to take part in their pre-COP28 initiatives. 

Under the theme “Climate Action in the Maldives: Amplifying Youth Voices, Inspiring Action,” these initiatives aim to engage and empower young voices in addressing pressing climate issues.

The Pre-COP28 Youth Conference is scheduled to be held from the 24th to the 26th of October 2023. To participate, applicants are required to complete an application form, thereby confirming their availability for the entire duration of the conference. 

Shortlisted candidates can expect to be contacted between the 8th and 12th of October 2023.

For the Youth Conference:

  • Age: Participants should be between 16 to 35 years old.
  • Availability: Applicants must be available to attend the National Youth Conference from the 24th to the 26th of October.
  • Skills: Good communication and presentation skills are essential.
  • Interests: Those interested in environment, climate change, international relations, and foreign policy are encouraged to apply.

For the Mock COP Negotiation:

  • Age: Participants should be aged between 16 to 25 years.
  • Availability: In-person participation in Male’ City from the 22nd to the 26th of October 2023 is required for the Mock Negotiation and National Youth Conference.
  • Passion: A strong passion for youth empowerment and participation is a must.
  • Interests: Applicants should have an interest in environment, climate change, international relations, and foreign policy.
  • Knowledge: Some knowledge of the UN and international affairs is preferred.
  • Skills: Good public speaking and presentation skills are highly valued.
