The scope of the upcoming dredging operation is extensive, encompassing the entirety of the lagoon area situated from the northwest end of the tunnel that connects the two phases of Hulhumale’. The ultimate objective of this operation is the transformation of the newly acquired land into a dry, usable expanse.

Notably, Urbanco has opted to withhold detailed comments regarding the project, contributing to the scarcity of available information regarding its specifics. Critical details such as the financial outlay and the precise dimensions of the project remain undisclosed at this time.

Nonetheless, today’s tweet by Urbanco sheds light on their intentions. The company has articulated a clear plan to clear the lagoon area of vessels and sunken objects, thereby facilitating the necessary land dredging activities essential to the Phase 3 development. Vessel owners have been afforded a 10-day grace period to undertake the removal of their assets from the designated zone.

Failure to relocate the vessels within the stipulated timeframe will result in the implementation of a similar protocol for vessels and items remaining within the lagoons of Thilafushi and Gulheefalhu.

Driven by the objective of addressing the housing needs of more than 19,000 residents in the city, the government has taken the significant decision to allocate land to eligible recipients. This includes parcels that will be derived from the dredging activities in Hulhumale’ Phase 3, with an approximate total of 1,400 plots earmarked for distribution.
