US Pledges Developmental Assistance to Maldives

The United States of America has affirmed its commitment to provide development assistance to the Maldives during a courtesy call to President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu by US Ambassador to Maldives, Hugo Yon.

During the meeting, President-elect Muizzu emphasised the strong bilateral relations between the two countries and expressed his optimism for further strengthening these ties in the upcoming term.

Ambassador Hugo Yon, in turn, assured President-elect Muizzu of his dedication to promoting development in both countries. 

He reiterated the United States’ readiness to offer assistance and cooperation across various domains.

Furthermore, the Ambassador expressed his hope that these collaborative efforts would expand with the establishment of the newly formed US Embassy in the Maldives.

Notably, this meeting marked the first encounter between President-elect Muizzu and the US Ambassador to Maldives since his election.
