The newly opened skate park in the Usfasgandu area of Malé will undergo further development in multiple phases, according to Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation Abdulla Rafiu.

The minister stated that the facility will be closely monitored to ensure it remains in good condition over the long term. While Skate Maldives has been assigned to manage the park, responsibility for maintenance, as well as any renovations and upgrades, will remain with the Ministry.

Plans are in place to introduce additional facilities and improvements based on the needs of the skating community. The minister noted that the park already features separate areas for skateboarding and inline skating, constructed to a high standard, and that further enhancements have been included in future development plans.

Construction of the skate park began with the laying of its foundation stone on 2 October last year. The project was implemented under the corporate social responsibility initiative of Rasheed Carpentry and Construction.
