Villa College, Atmosphere Foundation Offer Fully Funded Engineering Scholarships

Villa College, in collaboration with the Atmosphere Foundation, has opened applications for fully funded study opportunities in engineering under a new Engineering Sponsorship Scheme aimed at students facing financial barriers to higher education.

According to a press release shared by the college, three scholarships will be awarded for studies at Villa College’s QI Campus under this scheme. Two places are available for the Foundation in Engineering programme, while one fully funded scholarship is offered for the Bachelor of Civil Engineering programme. The scholarships cover application and registration fees, tuition fees, and all additional programme-related costs.

The initiative targets Maldivian students who meet Villa College’s entry requirements but are unable to pursue engineering studies due to financial constraints, according tp Villa College.  Applicants must not be enrolled in another higher education institution and must demonstrate financial need through disclosure of household income and expenditure. Candidates are also required to show a clear interest and commitment to a career in engineering.

The college said that a joint selection committee appointed by Villa College and the Atmosphere Foundation will assess applications using a points-based system. Academic performance will account for 40 points, with priority given to strong results in Mathematics and Science subjects. Financial circumstances will also carry 40 points, while a personal statement assessing motivation, understanding of the field, leadership qualities and future goals will contribute the remaining 20 points.

Applicants must submit a completed scholarship application form, a confirmed offer letter from Villa College, a copy of their Maldivian ID card, academic certificates and transcripts, a statement of household income and expenditure, and a personal statement.
