During the ceremony, VP highlighted the enduring bilateral relationship between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia, which has spanned over four decades.
Emphasising the foundation of this relationship, built upon mutual respect and trust, he also highlighted the shared Islamic, cultural, and historical ties between the two nations, both of which have Muslim-majority populations.
VP took a moment to reflect on the historical significance of the unification of the Kingdoms of Hejaz and Nejd, an event that culminated in the formation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He commended the progress made by Saudi Arabia across various sectors, including infrastructure, economy, education, healthcare, and technology.
Acknowledging the strengthening of bilateral relations, VP attributed this progress to the strategic vision of the leaders of both nations. He specifically pointed out the milestone achieved in 2023, with the Saudi government’s decision to grant e-visas and on-arrival visas to Maldivian citizens.
He assured that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s administration remains unwavering in its commitment to further fortify the deep bonds of friendship between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia, expressing confidence in the potential for even greater enhancement of their relations.
