VP Emphasises Collaboration for National Development at Meedhoo Award Ceremony

Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has stressed the importance of collaborative engagement in achieving the nation’s developmental objectives effectively.
He made the remarks while speaking as the Guest of Honour at the “Mahaasanadhu” Award Ceremony, held yesterday evening at the Raa Meedhoo School Hall. The event, organised by the Meedhoo Island Council, honours individuals whose dedication and contributions have significantly advanced the island’s development and community wellbeing.
Highlighting the significance of the initiative, the Vice President described the Mahaasanadhu Award as a source of community pride and motivation, encouraging residents to work together, strengthen unity, and contribute further to the island’s progress.
During the ceremony, the Vice President conferred several honours, including the Thakhan Award to four recipients, the Kaleyfaanu Award to another four, and the Madhadhu Award to two individuals. He also presented the Nalanala Meedhoo Award.
Additional recognitions included the Noorani Plaque awarded to ten individuals for outstanding achievements in education, and the Aburuveri Khakima Plaque presented to eleven recipients for over two decades of national service. Nine individuals received the Nooraanee Award for academic excellence in higher education, while the Fannuverin Plaque was given for exceptional skill and vocational achievement.
Vice President Latheef congratulated all honourees and urged them to continue serving their community and the country with commitment and unity.
Earlier in the day, he was welcomed by residents of Meedhoo and held meetings with the Island Council, the Women’s Development Committee, and representatives from key local institutions.
