During the meeting, council representatives outlined several urgent concerns, most notably the need for additional space at the island’s school. With classroom expansion already underway, the council appealed for the swift completion of the project to meet growing educational demands.

Infrastructure challenges also featured prominently in the discussion. The council raised concerns regarding the water and sewerage systems servicing newly built housing units, which are critical to ensuring residents’ access to safe and reliable utilities. Additionally, members emphasised the untapped potential for tourism development on the island, highlighting it as a key area for economic growth and job creation.

The lack of a proper waste management system and the need for improvements in healthcare provision at the local health centre were also cited as priority issues. Council members voiced strong support for further development initiatives aimed at improving the overall quality of life for the Nolhivaranfaru community.

In response, Vice President Latheef acknowledged the challenges and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing them. He assured the council that the matters raised would be discussed with the relevant authorities and that efforts would be made to deliver timely and effective solutions.
