The development of water and sewerage systems across 11 islands has been awarded to Altec Private Limited under contractor financing schemes.
Under the agreement, unfinished water supply projects in Rasmaadhoo, Feeali and Buruni will be completed.
In Laamu Atoll, islands including Isdhoo, Kalaidhoo and Dhan’bidhoo will undergo a full overhaul of their sewerage systems, with new gravity-based systems to be established.
Additional works will see incomplete water and sewerage projects completed in Angolhitheemu and Vaadhoo, as well as Hithadhoo and Dhevvadhoo. The company has also been tasked with upgrading the water supply system in Fuvahmulah.
The agreement was signed by State Minister for Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Ismail Hameed and Altec General Manager Hussain Thasneem. Member of Parliament for the Isdhoo constituency Ismail Shafeeu was also present at the signing ceremony.
