White Alert Extended Across Multiple Atolls as Rough Weather Persists

The Maldives Meteorological Service (MMS) has extended the white alert initially issued earlier today for regions from Haa Alif Atoll to Thaa Atoll.


The initial alert, which was in effect from 0945 hours to 1530 hours, has now been extended and is in effect from 1530 hours to 2130 hours today.

Forecasts continue to warn of strong winds ranging from 22 to 27 mph, with gusts of up to 45 mph. Rough seas are also expected across the affected regions.


Residents and visitors are strongly advised by MMS to remain cautious, especially those involved in sea travel or coastal activities.


MMS categorises weather alerts as follows:

  • White alert: Alert Level 1
  • Yellow advisory: Alert Level 2
  • Orange warning: Alert Level 3
  • Red warning: Alert Level 4
