White Alert Issued Across Central Atolls: Strong Winds and Rough Seas Expected

The Maldives Meteorological Service (MMS) has issued white alerts from Baa Atoll to Alif Dhaal Atoll, warning for strong winds of 19 – 24 mph with rough seas.

These alerts are in effect from 15:00 hours to 20:00 hours today.

The forecast warns of gusts of wind reaching 19 – 24mph for the region. Met Office also warned that rough seas are to be expected.

Residents and visitors in the affected areas are advised by the MMS to remain vigilant and implement appropriate safety measures.

MMS categorises weather alerts as follows:

  • White alert: Alert Level 1
  • Yellow advisory: Alert Level 2
  • Orange warning: Alert Level 3
  • Red warning: Alert Level 4
