White Alert Issued for Southern Atolls of the Maldives

The Maldives Meteorological Service (MMS) has issued a white alert for the southern atolls, effective today from 10:30 to 14:30. This alert indicates the possibility of swell wave surges in the region.

Residents and visitors in the affected areas are urged to remain vigilant and implement appropriate safety measures.

The MMS classifies its weather alerts into four levels: 

  • White alert (Alert Level 1)
  • Yellow advisory (Alert Level 2)
  • Orange warning (Alert Level 3) 
  • Red warning (Alert Level 4)
