The 76th Session of the WHO South-East Asia Region has inaugurated today in New Delhi, India, marking a significant gathering aimed at fortifying the health sector across the region.

Led by the Maldives delegation, helmed by Minister of Health Ahmed Naseem, the Regional Committee (RC) will engage in discussions centred on vital areas crucial for bolstering healthcare provisions within the participating regions.
Central to this year’s agenda is the election of a Regional Director, whose tenure will span the upcoming five years. The meeting is poised to host a special “round table” session tomorrow, gathering health officials from the region to deliberate on fortifying public health.
This discussion is foundational in the pursuit of achieving universal health coverage within the countries of the region.
Noteworthy for its significance, the WHO Regional Committee meeting serves as the preeminent gathering for health ministers, officials, and professionals hailing from 11 countries within the region, delineating vital steps towards enhanced health governance.
