Woman Dies After Road Accident In Laamu Kadhdhoo

A woman injured in a traffic accident in Laamu Kadhdhoo on Friday night has died from her injuries.

The Maldives Police Service reported that the incident occurred at around 19:18 when two women were crossing the zebra crossing on the road leading to Kadhdhoo Airport. They were struck by a motorbike travelling from Fonadhoo towards Gan.

Both pedestrians and the two people on the motorbike were injured in the collision and taken to hospital for treatment. The 64-year-old woman later died while receiving care at Gan Regional Hospital. Police have not disclosed further details regarding the condition of the others involved.

The accident comes amid a series of dangerous incidents reported along the Laamu Link Road. Earlier this week, a woman injured in a road accident in Gan on 6 July passed away on Thursday while being treated at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital.
