Workshop on Digital Empowerment for Women Entrepreneurs Concludes

The three-day workshop, “Empowering Women Entrepreneurs through Digital Transformation,” initiated by the Ministry of Social and Family Development, concluded yesterday.

Held from 14-16 December 2024, the initiative, organised in collaboration with the Asian and Pacific Training Centre for ICT for Development (APCICT) and Business Center Corporation (BCC), focused on building a sustainable future for women-owned micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through digital innovation.

The training program provided participants with practical knowledge on managing different scales of businesses, measuring profits and losses, and strategies for business growth. Participants expressed that the sessions were highly informative, highlighting the importance of careful accounting and effective business management. They also expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to network and share ideas with fellow women entrepreneurs through the workshop.

The program was officially concluded by H.E. Minister Dr. Aishath Shiham, Minister of Social and Family Development, who presented certificates to all participants. The members lauded the workshop for equipping them with tools to develop and sustain small businesses while fostering a collaborative environment for entrepreneurial innovation. 

In the same realm of interest, the Minister also met with Mr Kiyoung Ko, Director of APCICT, and representatives from the Social and Family Development Centre (SDFC) and BCC. The discussions focused on advancing APCICT’s flagship programs, with a strong emphasis on digital empowerment and promoting inclusivity. 

Key areas of focus included increasing opportunities for women, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and older persons, showcasing the program’s commitment to inclusive and equitable growth.
