WTA Celebratory Event Held at Velaana International Airport

The Maldives has been recognised as the World’s Leading Destination for the fifth consecutive year and the World’s Leading Green Destination for the first time at the 2024 World Travel Awards. A celebratory event to mark these achievements was held yesterday at the Waterfront, Velana International Airport.

The event, organised by the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), was attended by prominent figures, including the Minister of Tourism, Ibrahim Faisal, the CEO and Managing Director of MMPRC, Ibrahim Shiuree, and the CEO and Managing Director of Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed.

In his address, Ibrahim Shiuree expressed his gratitude for the recognition, emphasising that the awards reflect the collective efforts of the country’s tourism stakeholders in positioning the Maldives as a premier global destination. He also highlighted the country’s ongoing commitment to sustainable tourism practices.

During the event, MMPRC also unveiled a new ‘Maldives signage’ at Velana International Airport, further enhancing the nation’s visibility on the global stage.
