Zakat House Allocates MVR 348,037 for Cancer Treatment in October

The Maldives Zakat House has revealed its financial contributions for October, with cancer treatment receiving the largest allocation of MVR 348,037. 

According to statistics released by the organisation, a total of MVR 529,702 was spent during the month, reflecting the institution’s continued commitment to providing medical assistance across several key areas.

The data revealed that Zakat Funds supported four main types of treatment: cancer treatment, heart operations, kidney disease treatment, and brain surgeries, as well as transplants. In addition to the amount allocated for cancer treatment, MVR 80,569 was directed towards kidney disease treatment, MVR 33,924 for brain operations, and another MVR 33,924 for heart surgeries. A further MVR 470,696 was allocated for other medical treatments.

Beyond healthcare, the Zakat House incurred expenses related to its administrative and operational functions. It spent MVR 252,722.24 on employee salaries and MVR 92,363 on travel to other countries, aimed at facilitating the collection and distribution of Zakat. Additional funds were also allocated for the development of Waqf buildings, underscoring the organisation’s broader role in managing Islamic charitable funds.
