During the debate, Zameel expressed his disappointment in the government’s five-year tenure, which began with a promise to investigate the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) scandal.
Despite the passage of time, no tangible solution has been put forth to address this pressing concern. Zameel also drew attention to the glaring income-salary disparity among the populace, stressing the importance of curbing corruption in Asandha, the government revenue collection agency.
Zameel further urged for a thorough examination of the acquisition of additional properties by individuals with existing sources of income, emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability. He called for a comprehensive approach to combat corruption, extending to all facets of government and society.
Zameel noted that this effort should encompass not only public institutions but also private entities, including the two prominent private hospitals in the city, in addition to the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
In his election manifesto, Zameel has outlined a plan to combat corruption and establish a just governance system. He is committed to taking concrete measures to uphold justice and integrity while steering the state towards progress and prosperity.
Zameel’s stance on eradicating corruption aligns with the growing sentiment among the electorate, who increasingly view this issue as a linchpin for resolving the nation’s challenges.
