Get the Freshest, Homegrown Maldivian Produce at SIMDI’s KuriFresh in Malé

SIMDI Group opened its first KuriFresh outlet in Malé City yesterday, providing households, retailers, and the hospitality sector with premium Maldivian produce sourced from Shaviyani Atoll, Ekasdhoo. The launch is timed ahead of Ramadan, offering greater access to fresh, locally grown fruits, vegetables, leafy greens, and herbs.

The outlet, located at H. Shellflower, will cater to both retail and wholesale customers, including resorts and restaurants, ensuring high-quality produce reaches the wider HoReCa sector. The inauguration was attended by the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Welfare State Minister Ismail Azmee Adnan and Permanent Secretary Mohamed Anees.

KuriFresh was established with the aim of producing quality Maldivian-grown produce comparable to international standards. SIMDI Group’s Chairman, Ibrahim Mohamed Didi, and CEO Dr Mariyam Shakeela, have emphasised the brand’s commitment to strengthening local agricultural capability, applying modern cultivation methods, and building consumer confidence in home-grown produce.

Shaviyani Atoll, Ekasdhoo, serves as the hub for KuriFresh production, utilising greenhouses, hydroponics, and structured handling processes to ensure freshness, consistency, and adherence to food safety standards. Over the years, SIMDI Group has refined its operations to deliver produce that meets both household expectations and the quality requirements of resorts and other hospitality businesses.

“KuriFresh represents our commitment to developing local produce to a high standard. With this outlet, we are making high-quality, locally grown produce more accessible to households while building capacity to supply the HoReCa sector. This marks the first of many planned outlets as KuriFresh expands across the Maldives,” the  Managing Director Mishal Ibrahim Mohamed Didi and General Manager Yooshau Saeed said in a joint statement regarding the outlet.

  • Fruits: Island Banana, Papaya (Red Lady and Holland), Watermelon, Pumpkin
  • Vegetables: Eggplant, Sweet Peppers (Red, Yellow, Green), Beefsteak and Cherry Tomatoes, English Cucumber
  • Leafy Greens: Butterhead, Cos (Romaine), Oakleaf, Batavia, Lollo Rossa Lettuce
  • Herbs: Thai Basil, Sweet Basil, Dill, Mint, Coriander, Rosemary, Lemongrass
