I’m not going to say that I am a Maldivian food expert. But this a list of essentials that even you can’t deny and are conveniently available at Seagull foods.

Undeniably the first on the list is Rihaakuru.

From being paired with just plain old rice to making shorteats, Rihaakuru is well known to enhance the “Maldivian” flavor in any dish.

Second on the list is lemon.

Lemons are a key ingredient in sauces, salad dressings, marinades, and perfect to make lemonades.

 For those who like that extra spice in their life, next on the list is Githyo Mirus (Hot Chilli)

Maldivian Banana Flower (Boashi) might not be the most famous, but take my word for it and give it a try. Chop the Banana Flower finely and saute’ them with salt, pepper, chopped onions and hot chili to make a side dish that goes well with any rice.

Let’s not forget about your fruits and vegetables. Carrots and cucumbers remain a staple in the classic Maldivian dishes.
