Blizzard has revealed more Overwatch 2 details
Teams in Overwatch 2 will consist of 5 players each – thus changing the game meta from a 6v6 setup to a 5v5. In addition to this, all characters from Overwatch 1 will appear in the sequel, along with new heroes and maps. All of your character progression along with all cosmetics will carry over to the sequel as well.
Blizzard has stated that matchmaking for games will include both Overwatch 1 and Overwatch 2. A lot is staying the same in this sequel, but there may be just enough changes to keep the fanbase interested.
Rumor: Dev troubles at Ubisoft
Ubisoft wowed crowds back in E3 2017 with their Skull & Bones gameplay demo. The game was inspired by the pirate influence in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, and was a title that fans were really looking forward to playing. Originally set for a 2018 release, the game has been delayed multiple times and was recently delayed again into 2023. Industry sources claim that Ubisoft remains unsatisfied with the game and has completely restarted development of the game twice. Those who were looking forward to playing pirate might have to wait a few more years.
Prince of Persia is another long-awaited Ubisoft game that’s seeing similar troubles. Fans of the franchise were ecstatic when Ubisoft announced the remake for a Jan 2021 release. However, this title has been hit with multiple delays as well – with insiders saying that the game might have gone under a complete development reboot.
No more classic platform games from Activision?
Toys for Bob may not be a household studio name, but they’re the ones responsible for the fantastically well received Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy (2018), Spyro: Reignited Trilogy (2018), Crash Team Racing - Nitro-Fueled (2019) and Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time (2020). All of these games were huge hits with fans and the remake trilogies were lauded for the attention to detail and how well the developers captured the spirit of the original PS1 games.
However, we might not be getting any more of these colorfully fun platformer games from Toys for Bob as it was recently revealed that Activision has put them on Warzone support after the release of Crash 4. Despite backlash from fans, the studio remains a support development branch to create assets for Activision’s main franchise.
One of the greatest games ever released is finally getting a sequel
And no, it’s not Call of Duty.
Psychonauts released all the way back in 2005 on the PS2 to little commercial success, but the game was loved and praised universally by everyone who did play it. The title did much better when it was re-released on modern consoles in 2015. Psychonauts stands out from the crowd with a narrative style and dark humor not usually found in video games, and an extremely talented group of writers and voice actors help bring the characters to life in a very real way.
The success of the 2015 remaster resulted in the developers deciding to go for Psychonauts 2 – set to release sometime this year. We can’t wait to see if they can recapture the magic of what made the original game so unique.
Final Fantasy VII keeps on rolling
Probably one of the most popular video games ever made, Final Fantasy VII has had multiple console games, mobile games, movies and comics under its belt. The recent Final Fantasy VII Remake took the world by storm, and Square Enix plans on taking advantage of this by re-releasing 2005’s Advent Children. Fans of the franchise will be happy to know that the 4K UHD movie remaster will be coming out at the same time as the PS5 exclusive Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade.
