Meet the Artist Behind Dhiraagu’s Ramadan Campaign, Hassan Najih (iamarthling) | MV+ Exclusive
This Ramadan, the entrance of the Dhiraagu Head Office was transformed into a striking display of art through a vibrant Arabic calligraphy-inspired mural by young Maldivian artist Hassan Najih (iamarthling). Flowing across the doorway in vivid shades of orange and turquoise, the artwork reflects both the essence of Ramadan and Dhiraagu’s distinct brand identity.
“I first started by practicing asemic writing, which is basically expressive writing. At the time, I saw other street artists on social media using calligraphy to create art, which piqued my interest so I wanted to try it,” said Najih
Commissioned as part of the company’s Ramadan preparations, the mural was carefully designed to align with Dhiraagu’s corporate colour palette while incorporating an elegant Arabic aesthetic. Unlike Najih’s previous spontaneous on-site works, this project required months of planning and research. He began conceptualizing the piece in November, refining each detail to ensure the final design was intentional and meaningful.
Completed within 24 hours, the mural seamlessly blends expressive calligraphy with subtle brand elements. Najih expressed appreciation for Dhiraagu’s continued support of local artists and voiced hope for more opportunities to showcase creative talent in the future.
Dhiraagu stated that the initiative not only celebrates the holy month but also reflects its commitment to empowering local artists and embracing unique thematic branding each year.
