Criminal Charges Filed Against Three After Motorcyclist Injured in Hulhumale’ Collision

Three individuals involved in a serious car crash in Hulhumale’ Phase II in July, which resulted in a motorcyclist being thrown from his vehicle, have been charged with multiple criminal offences.
The incident occurred outside the Vinares apartments on the afternoon of July 31 when a speeding car lost control and collided with a 27-year-old motorcyclist who had stopped to answer a call from his mother.
The three occupants of the vehicle have been identified as Ibrahim Ikram, 33, of M. Land of Garden, K. Male; Ikram-ul Rahman, 25, of H. Nooranmaage, K. Male; and Jinah Ismail of Aazadhuge, GA. Kanduhulhudhoo. Ibrahim Ikram was driving the car at the time of the accident.
Following the collision, all three fled the scene but were apprehended later that evening. The Criminal Court has released a schedule detailing the charges against the individuals.
Ibrahim Ikram faces one count of inflicting bodily harm, one count of reckless endangerment, two counts of property damage, one count of failure to report an accident, and one count of failure to assist a person in danger.
Ikram-ul Rahman has been charged with one count of accessory to inflicting bodily harm, one count of failure to assist a person in danger, one count of failure to report an accident, one count of reckless endangerment, and two counts of accessory to property damage.
Jinah Ismail is charged with one count of accessory to inflicting bodily harm, one count of reckless endangerment, and two counts of accessory to property damage.
CCTV footage of the incident reveals that the car veered out of control while making a sharp turn, striking a grassy road divider before colliding with the stationary motorcyclist. The impact caused the motorcyclist to be thrown into the air, and he hit the car before landing on the ground.
The vehicle also struck a tree before coming to a halt on the pavement. The victim, a local man, was initially treated at Hulhumale’ Hospital before being transferred to Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) in Male City. He subsequently received treatment abroad. His family reported that he sustained multiple fractures as a result of the accident.
