Hanimaadhoo School Launches Hydroponics Programme

Hanimaadhoo School has officially launched its “School Hydroponics Programme” in conjunction with Farmers’ Day and World Food Day celebrations. 

Mr. Ismail Mohammed, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, attended the event.

The initiative aims to spark interest in agriculture among students and nurture future agricultural professionals. A small greenhouse equipped with a hydroponics system has been set up at the school, allowing students to gain practical experience in cultivating crops such as lettuce, cucumber, and melon.The programme includes 50 participants, comprising students, staff, and members of the Parent-Teacher Association. The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock emphasised the importance of such initiatives in enhancing agricultural knowledge and experience among students, which is deemed essential for the future of agriculture in the Maldives.
