Voting Registration Opens for Maldives Media Council Election

The registration process for voting in the Maldives Media Council election, where 10 members will be selected, is now open.

Prospective voters can submit their registration forms and documents in person at the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts (Social Centre) from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM, between October 17 and 22. Alternatively, applications can be submitted via email to media@youth.gov.mv.

The Maldives Media Council comprises 10 members, including three representatives from the public and seven from the media sector. The Council oversees the regulation of all media in the Maldives, with the exception of broadcasters.
